Ascert announces the general release of VersaTest Automator version 1.5. This release contains a number of new features many of which were demonstrated at Ascert's annual User Group held in London, England. One of the headline changes is that the VersaTest Automator Plug-in for Quality Center has been updated to support HP Quality Center 11, part of the HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) toolset.
Ascert have always been proactive in attempting to improve the users’ experience of their product line. Included in this version is a feature that allows the user to select, at run time, the customer specific test data set, the Named Data Set (NDS), to be used within a test case. This is the "Run with NDS" feature. This allows the user to select at run time the customer specific test set to include within a test case. The default behavior is to select the same test data set each time the test is run, a requirement for standard regression testing. The new feature allows the additional option of having a user select a custom “Named Data Set” for a specific test execution thereby increasing test execution flexibility.
Additionally, new features in test case reporting allow for an easy to use summary view containing details per environment, of running, passed and failed test cases. Another major leap forward in flexibility is the ability to configure VersaTest/AS to launch test server instances on remote physical servers. This allows for a multitude of testing configurations across many different platforms or platform types, so addressing the bigger, more complex, testing environments, for which VersaTest Automator is renowned.
In addition to time savings in testing, VersaTest Automator decreases the time involved in analyzing testing results. With an easy to use GUI interface and “audit capture” functionality, the product increases both testing accuracy as well as ROI.
