WPL Publishing to Sponsor Webinar on Total Quality Management in Construction

Share Article

The interactive webinar is suited for various professionals in the construction community, including owners, contractors, subcontractors, design teams, and suppliers who could suffer financial detriment when project objectives are not met. This program is designed for all levels of construction professionals, but the medium-sized contractor and the contractor that self-performs most of its work may benefit the most.

Early next month, WPL Publishing will host a webinar to help construction professionals improve the success of their projects through total quality management (TQM).

TQM, the concept of customer satisfaction through quality processes and continuous improvement, was developed by W. Edwards Deming after World War II and helped the Japanese become an industrial giant. Many construction professionals have tried unsuccessfully to implement TQM programs, but the webinar will present practical suggestions for effectively doing so. To register for the 90-minute event, scheduled for Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. (EST), visit http://tinyurl.com/89gw4f8.

Construction professionals attending the webinar will learn the following:

  • The elements of a TQM program.
  • Why successful construction companies become successful and stay that way.
  • The elements for intra-company, inter-company, and industry-wide TQM.
  • The reasons why certain TQM programs fail.
  • How TQM programs can be implemented on a cost-effective basis with real short-term and long-term results.
  • The importance of the Pareto Principle in TQM.
  • The role of measurement in TQM.

Addressing webinar attendees will be the owner of The Frisby Group, a construction consulting firm that has more than 50 years’ experience in construction dispute resolution, troubled projects, and project management and delivery system innovation. Thomas Frisby is an attorney with engineering, construction, and financial background and is a certified mediator in South Carolina. A mission of his firm is the avoidance of claims through improvement of the design and construction process.

Following Mr. Frisby’s presentation, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.

Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price. To register for “Total Quality Management for Improved Project Success,” visit http://tinyurl.com/89gw4f8.
