Adds a 1470nm Laser to its Practice for Advanced Treatment of Varicose Veins

MD Laser Medicine & Surgery has added a 1470nm Laser to the vein restoration arm of its laser medicine and surgery practice. This cutting-edge laser boasts greater laser efficiency for advanced treatment of varicose veins caused by Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI).

“The addition of the 1470nm laser to our practice is the latest step in my ongoing commitment to providing safe, effective and advanced vein care--one patient at a time,” said Clement Banda, M.D., the Medical Director at MD Laser Medicine & Surgery. “This laser uses a lower power output than other lasers—and has been clinically shown to achieve excellent vein closure results while still maximizing patients’ comfort during the Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) procedure.”

The EVLA procedure has replaced ‘old school’ stripping and ligation surgery as one of the safest, most effective and advanced treatments for varicose veins caused by CVI—a treatable medical condition characterized by varicose veins, restless leg syndrome, swollen ankles and other symptoms. During the procedure, a thin fiber is inserted into the patient’s diseased vein. The laser energy passes through the fiber, delivering just the right amount of energy to cause the diseased vein to close and automatically re-route blood to other healthy veins. The 1470nm diode laser has been clinically shown to more efficiently deliver laser energy through the fiber to the diseased vein during the procedure than shorter wavelength lasers. EVLA is performed in an office setting and is covered by most health insurance providers including Medicare. It offers patients immediate symptom relief, recovery and return to their normal daily routines.
