Eat out for lunch and help support the American Culinary Federation’s involvement in the Chefs Move to Schools program.

Who: Ron Celmer, Food & Beverage Director, invites the public to attend this special event and purchase a delicious and nutritious specialty lunch item. Funds raised will help promote proper nutrition in schools.

What: Lunch Break for Schools is a national fundraiser organized by the makers of Hidden Valley® Salad Dressings and the American Culinary Federation (ACF) to support ACF’s Chef & Child Foundation (CCF) and its chefs’ involvement in the Chefs Move to Schools program.

With support from celebrity chef Cat Cora as the national spokesperson, chefs across the country will create and sell healthy lunch items during the week of Feb. 27–March 2, 2012. All net proceeds from lunch items sold will be donated to CCF. Funds will be used to create nutrition-based educational resources for chefs involved in the Chefs Move to Schools program, part of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign to end childhood obesity.

When: Monday through Friday, Feb 27-March 2, 2012

Where: Whether dining in or taking lunch to-go, stop by the Lunch Break to Schools fundraiser at Doubletree By Hilton Chicago-Alsip, 5000 W. 127th St., Alsip, IL, 60803 to purchase the chef’s specialty lunch item Allgauer’s Turkey Burger.

Why: Most Americans eat out for lunch once a week, so why not plan your dining experience and help make a difference in childhood nutrition education?

Interview Opportunities: Ed Trinkaus and Saul Lopezare available for interviews before and after the event. Learn more about the event and the dish they will sell. Consider having them in studio for a demonstration leading up to the event, or stop by on Feb 28th-March 2nd.
