Street Toyota Selects 2011 Employee of the Year

Larry Carney, master technician at Street Toyota has been named 2011 Employee of the Year by fellow employees.

“It’s is a huge honor to be voted for this award,” Carney said. “I never thought I would win, but I am very excited to be working for such a great company and with good people.”

Larry Carney, master technician, has been voted on by his fellow employees at Street Toyota as the 2011 Employee of the Year after being named Employee of the Month in February 2011.

Larry has been with Street Toyota for almost 30 years. He began in July of 1982.

Larry is excited about his award because his managers and fellow employees notice his hard work over the years.

“It’s is a huge honor to be voted for this award,” Carney said. “I never thought I would win, but I am very excited to be working for such a great company and with good people.”

The nomination process begins when four employees are chosen by their employers to be Employee of the Week. These four selected employees are then contestants for Employee of the Month. Street Toyota employees then vote and the employee with the most votes wins the title of Employee of the Month. All twelve Employees of the Month are in turn contestants for Employee of the Year.

“Street Toyota’s Employee of the Year, Larry Carney is an asset to Street Toyota and that has been acknowledged with this award,” Mike Good, General Manager said.

Past recipients of this award include Robert Young in 2010, Lee Hardin in 2009 and Tino Martinez in 2008.

“The recipient of this award receives $500, their name on the plaque a most important benefit: bragging rights,” Bonnie Brakey, Customer Relations Manager said.

Street Toyota in Amarillo, Texas was established in 1982. A new 58,000 square foot facility on 9 acres is now open at 45th and Soncy. This is a state of the art facility and the customer's comfort has been emphasized from the ample parking right down to the gourmet coffee. Street Toyota is the first dealer in west Texas to become Signature Certified.

Street Toyota has been a valuable corporate citizen in the Panhandle area. They provide support to area nonprofit organizations such as United Way, Better Business Bureau, Amarillo Adult Literacy, Harrington Cancer Center, Meals on Wheels, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Museum of Art, Amarillo Little Theater, Lone Star Ballet, Discovery Center, Globe News Center for the Performing Arts, CACHA (Hispanic Chamber of Commerce) and many other organizations.
