The IES&BD Awards recognize teams, companies and organizations who have demonstrated exemplary performance through leadership, risk taking, innovation, vision, and customer development in sales and business development.

The Institute for Excellence in Sales & Business Development (IES&BD) announced today that award nominations are now open for the organization’s 2012 awards and that former Oracle Federal Executive Jay Nussbaum is the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. The event will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Gannett/USA Today Building in McLean, VA. Over 250 sales and business executives in the Mid-Atlantic region are expected to attend.
The IES&BD Awards Program recognizes teams, companies and organizations who have demonstrated exemplary performance through leadership, risk taking, innovation, vision, and customer development in sales and business development. The awards recognize companies across all industries including financial services, government contracting, technology, professional services, product sales, moving and storage, and entertainment.
The following four awards will be awarded to organizations:
•Excellence in Innovation: Criteria include new sales processes, technology usage such as CRM or sales automation, and sales and marketing integration.
•Excellence in Team Building, Management and Development: Criteria include internal team development, hiring, recruiting, cross-functional development, retention, leadership development, and sales management strategies.
•Excellence in Sales Training: Criteria include training programs, online training programs, and third party training programs.
•Excellence in Customer Partnering: Recognizes how organizations work with customers to build great solutions that are bigger than the sale itself. The award may also recognize teaming partnerships.
“It keeps getting harder and harder to implement successful sales and business development programs as competition gets tougher, the economy continues to stagnate, and customers figure out how to do more with less,” said Fred Diamond, co-founder of IES&BD and president of DIAMOND Strategic Marketing. “Organizations continually try to figure out how to get it right when it comes to hiring, prospecting, qualifying, and closing. These awards acknowledge the corporations and organizations in the DC region that are getting it right.”
Diamond, known as the leading go-to-market consultant in the Mid-Atlantic region, also said that one of the goals of the awards program is to build databases of best practices and thought leadership.
“Last year’s awards recognized leading companies in the region such as Learning Tree International, Living Social, Blackboard, and Microsoft, all companies who are leading the way in sales and business development execution. We’re excited to see which companies are nominated this year. We are also excited to recognize the achievements of Jay Nussbaum, who in many ways exemplifies the quintessential executive who leads the way in sales.”
Jay Nussbaum co-founded Agilex and currently serves as the company’s Vice Chairman. During a ten-year career with Oracle Corporation, he established Oracle Services Industries, the company’s sales and consulting organization serving the education, healthcare, communications, utilities, financial services and public sectors. Reporting directly to Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, Jay Nussbaum grew the organization from just under $60M to more than $1.5B during his tenure. Mr. Nussbaum began his career at Xerox Corporation, culminating his service as President of Integrated Systems Operations.
