[Our customers] have compelling stories to tell about successful physician adoption of IT within their organizations, and the patient care and operational benefits they realize using PatientKeeper.

At the HIMSS12 conference, PatientKeeper®, Inc., the leading provider of physician healthcare information systems, will showcase its physician-friendly overlay that sits on top of all hospital back-end systems. PatientKeeper provides a single, integrated software environment that over 40,000 physicians have voluntarily adopted to help manage their daily patient care activities.

Executives from five PatientKeeper customers – Ashe Memorial Hospital, Community Memorial Health System, Madison Memorial Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, and Southeast Alabama Medical Center – will participate in a panel discussion at a PatientKeeper-sponsored HIMSS12 “lunch and learn” session on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Panelists will describe their experiences using an overlay strategy to deploy advanced clinical applications that extend the value and physician appeal of their existing hospital information systems to improve patient care, save physicians time, and attain Stage 2/3 Meaningful Use.

“We are excited that our customers are eager to share their experiences with an audience of their peers,” said PatientKeeper president and CEO Paul Brient. “They have compelling stories to tell about successful physician adoption of IT within their organizations, and the patient care and operational benefits they realize using PatientKeeper.”

Some of these customers also will be available for conversations at PatientKeeper’s main HIMSS12 exhibit (booth #1045), where PatientKeeper will highlight its physician-friendly CPOE, medication reconciliation, physician documentation, and charge capture applications.

PatientKeeper’s workflow automation solutions work in conjunction with existing hospital IT infrastructure; as a result, hospitals don’t have to rip and replace their current systems to meet the needs of physicians.

“PatientKeeper’s revolutionary overlay strategy has provides an attractive option to hospital executives who previously believed their only choice to encourage physician adoption of technology was to go to the time and expense of replacing their existing HIS,” Brient said. “Now, with PatientKeeper, hospitals have the option of deploying PatientKeeper’s CPOE, medication reconciliation and documentation software on top of existing IT infrastructure, creating an environment that satisfies physicians and other clinical staff, as well as hospital IT and administrative staff.”

Focus on Mobility
PatientKeeper also will exhibit at the HIMSS12 Mobile Health Knowledge Center (booth #12928). Featured there will be PatientKeeper’s industry-leading mobile workflow solutions for physicians, including:

  • PatientKeeper Mobile CPOE™, a mobile companion to desktop CPOE systems (from PatientKeeper and other vendors);
  • PatientKeeper Mobile Clinical Results™, which provides physicians with a complete view of patient clinical data from anywhere, on a smartphone or tablet; and
  • PatientKeeper Charge Capture™, the automated professional fee capture solution most widely adopted by physicians in the market today.

In addition, PatientKeeper’s chief medical information officer, Dr. Randy Hawkins, will present a talk at the Mobile Health Knowledge Center, entitled “There’s One App for That: Providing a Single, Integrated Mobile App and Other Keys to Successful Physician Adoption of mHealth”, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Physician-Centric Events
PatientKeeper is co-sponsoring two networking events for the HIMSS/AMDIS Physician Community: the Physician Community Reception on Sunday evening, Feb. 19; and the Physician Community Breakfast on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

“HIMSS is the largest annual gathering of the healthcare IT industry, and a great place to meet with customers, prospects, partners, and thought leaders,” Brient said. “PatientKeeper is pleased to be playing a prominent role at this venue, supported by many of our customers who can speak from first-hand experience about the value of a physician-friendly overlay and PatientKeeper’s physician workflow solutions.”

The HIMSS12 healthcare technology conference is being held at the Venetian Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. Exhibits are open from Feb. 21-23, 2012.
