CONVERGE, MEDSEEK’s Independent Digital Health Strategy Group, Expands Ability to Help Hospitals Find Valuable ePatients, Predict Needs, Position Service Lines

“The demand to manage population health, find new sources of revenue and drive down costs, makes it imperative that hospitals leverage valuable and effective digital health technologies."
-- Rich Grehalva - MEDSEEK SVP of Strategic Services

MEDSEEK, the provider of the healthcare industry’s only enterprise strategic patient engagement and management solutions, today unveiled its predictive analytics-based ePatient Engagement Propensity Index report that helps hospitals and health systems identify new sources of revenue and cost savings. The Index predicts and reports on the number of patients in the target area with a propensity to develop a range of health conditions or to need specific medical services, their level of Internet connectivity and access preferences (broadband or mobile), and breaks down the market population by the type of medical insurance held. Hospitals can use the report to develop revenue growth plans that integrate the right mix of capital investments, media buys, and offline and online patient engagement tactics. The reports can also be used to predict population health needs to develop preventive and wellness programs to cut healthcare cost growth.

“Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements will demand hospitals show a specific percentage of engagement in a patient portal,” said Dale Edwards, GM/SVP REACH3. “The ePatient Engagement Propensity Index is built with the same ecoSmart technology that applies advanced analytics and propensity models to national and local databases containing de-identified patient encounter records and demographic, socio-economic, health insurance and Internet information. With this information, hospitals can raise revenues by precisely marketing relevant services to valuable patients likely to need and use them. The report provides hospitals with insight and understanding of the healthcare population, which is critical to engaging them.”

The ePatient Engagement Propensity Index is produced via a proprietary tool used by CONVERGE, MEDSEEK’s independent team of digital health strategists that help hospitals transform strategies into successful digital health tactics. The Index will add to CONVERGE’s industry expertise and best practices, enabling them to further help hospitals engineer successful patient engagement tactics.

CONVERGE can perform real-time searches on national databases, upload a hospital’s patient data when available, and filter the results to produce a categorized report that identifies the number of patients that match the search criteria. The tool analyzes patient demographic data by zip code, region, or within a radius of the entered location. Results can be filtered by the number of patients with a propensity to develop specific diseases, their level of Internet activity and connectivity (broadband or mobile), and those who are most likely to manage their health online. The number of patients is also broken out by insurance type to help hospitals better balance margins.

“Health care is shifting toward accountable care and risk-based, results-oriented reimbursement models,” said Rich Grehalva, MEDSEEK’s SVP of Strategic Services. “The demand to manage population health, find new sources of revenue and drive down costs, makes it imperative that hospitals leverage valuable and effective digital health technologies. MEDSEEK has always been ahead of the healthcare technology curve and by leveraging our advanced, predictive analytics to produce the ePatient Engagement Propensity Index, we have added to our suite of digital health transformation tools to help hospitals stay ahead of the competition while meeting the revenue, cost and quality challenges of healthcare reform.”
