COLLINSVILLE, IL (PRWEB) February 22, 2012
864 solar photovoltaic (“PV”) panels are up and running on three automotive manufacturing plants owned by Walker Products, Inc. in Pacific, Missouri. Project designer Day & Night Solar anticipates that the three systems will power approximately 60 percent of the plant’s energy needs, and that is a conservative figure.
“This is one of the biggest private solar installations in the state of Missouri, if not the biggest. It’s also the very first solar project to utilize a 335 watt “Lifeline Solar” monocrystalline solar panel in the state of Missouri,” says sales executive at Day & Night Solar, Rob Viliocco. Day & Night Solar designed the massive installation that was then installed by J.F. Electric. Day & Night Solar also assisted Walker Products in obtaining grants and educated the automotive company on federal tax credits and several other incentives given to businesses and individuals with solar installations.
“Walker Products is not only benefiting from the install, but they are making a substantial impact on the environment. All three systems combined produce 365,000 kilowatt hours annually. That is equivalent to removing 110 vehicles from the road for 30 years,” says Managing Partner of Day & Night Solar, Bob Eaton.
Day & Night Solar states that Walker Products will receive a 30 percent federal tax credit on the entire cost of the solar installation and a rebate from Ameren of $2.00 per kilowatt, with a maximum of 25 kilowatts. On top of that, Walker Products will receive Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SREC) from Ameren for the next five years.
Day & Night Solar anticipates that Walker Products will recoup 100 percent of their money in less than 4.5 years through use of the roof mounted solar panels and incentives.
Walker Products, Inc. is one of the largest privately owned manufacturers of aftermarket automotive Fuel System Components and Engine Management Devices, which are distributed worldwide.
