Litron Inc participates in course offerings to further educate employees on industry specific skills

It was a great opportunity to expand my education within the workplace.

The Regional Employment Board of Hampden County Inc (REB) sponsored industry specific skill enhancement courses and college credit courses for employees that currently work in precision manufacturing within the Pioneer Valley Region. The courses were offered at no cost to the employees or companies who took advantage of this offering. Course offerings were customized to enhance work skills and assist with responsibilities within the workplace.

Litron Inc., laser service specialists located in Agawam MA, had several employees attend the course offerings over an eight week period of time. Upon completion Litron employees received a Technical Certificate of Completion. Course offerings ranged from blueprint reading and interpretation to CNC Swiss operations and even manufacturing planning and control to name a few. “It was a great opportunity to expand my education within the workplace.” says Bob Kobak, Litron’s Process Engineer and Production Coordinator. “I was able to take away practical skills from the manufacturing planning and control course which directly applied to my current position.”

About The Regional Employment Board
Since 1980, the Regional Employment Board (REB) of Hampden County, Inc. has been the region’s primary planner and convener to address workforce development issues. Established by Federal and State legislation, the REB is a business-led, non-profit corporation that engages its members from business, education, labor and community-based agencies to set public policies that will build a better workforce.

“This program is able to benefit a wide range of employees, whether they are interested in a degree or short courses,” explains David Cruise, Director of Business and Employer Services. “The courses are designed to improve technical competencies that are currently being utilized on the shop floor and provide information for practices that are not currently being applied but could be beneficial.”

Looking ahead, Litron is looking forward to sending additional employees to various course offerings that REB will make available throughout the coming years. REB’s initiative to assist local small and medium sized companies and help them to develop collaborative business developments has allowed Litron to build our resources and strengthen our business.
