Tiremetrix LLC is announcing today the release of several new features to its software product TPMS Manager, including service information related to indirect TPMS systems. Indirect TPMS systems are found on many vehicles beginning in the late 90’s through some models today. This update provides tire dealers with comprehensive coverage of service information related to indirect equipped TPMS vehicles.

“This is an important feature added to our software platform,” said Joe Donehue, President of Tiremetrix. “Many of our current customers provided feedback that the indirect systems were often a pain point, and we are happy to now provide data information that can help them better service their customers. Often, older vehicles do not have owner’s manuals which were the primary source for indirect TPMS reset procedures.”

Indirect TPMS is a term used for vehicles that use a system of monitoring tire pressure based on the vehicles anti-lock braking system. ABS based systems were first generation Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems. Indirect TPMS systems do not include wheel mounted transmitters, which is very different than the more common direct TPMS systems, found on most vehicles since model year 2008.

“This feature is critically important for automotive tire service today,” adds Donehue, ”as we are seeing certain OEM’s, such as Audi/VW Group, which have developed new generation indirect TPMS. Many newer model Audi and Volkswagen vehicles are equipped with TPI, a type of indirect TPMS. Tire dealers are faced with multiple variations of systems when it comes to TPMS, which in turn makes it very difficult. TPMS Manager helps tire shops to determine which type of system is on the vehicle, direct or indirect, and how to service it.”
