New solution is the TurboTax® equivalent for achieving Meaningful Use and attestation

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush announced recently they have gone live on the MU Assistant® software solution from SA Ignite, Inc. to help them streamline and automate their “last mile” of achieving Meaningful Use (MU) and attesting for Medicare’s Stage 1 incentive payment.

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, widely recognized as the regional leader in comprehensive orthopaedic services, chose the MU Assistant to help them navigate the currently manual and time-intensive last steps in achieving MU and attestation. The group has been live on their EHR for some time; the MU Assistant is now helping them redesign workflows and automatically aggregate and monitor MU measures across their EHR. The automatic monitoring provides analysis of where usage gaps are occurring. When these gaps have been filled, the MU Assistant will help Midwest Orthopaedics select appropriate 90-day windows and then automatically match their MU data 1:1 with CMS attestation forms. The MU Assistant will then electronically file the data to Medicare and/or Medicaid attestation websites, providing a one-click attestation process.

“We needed something to help us simplify the overwhelming tasks of gathering, documenting and reporting MU data,” said Libby Blahunka, CIO at Midwest Orthopaedics. “Our EHR was working well, but we needed something to help us down that final stretch to documenting and attesting our EHR usage. The MU Assistant is providing that support,” Blahunka added. “We are also looking to the system’s ability to track our clinicians’ daily usage and show us where we need to make improvements to help us maximize our use of the EHR and help us improve the care we deliver,” commented Mary Rodts, DNP, COO at Midwest Orthopaedics.

“We are gratified that a prestigious healthcare delivery system like Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush not only recognizes the significant time-saving features of MU Assistant, but also understands how the system can actually help providers improve their care with its intuitive analysis of how clinicians are using the EHR,” explained Tom S. Lee, Ph.D., CEO and founder of SA Ignite.
