Facility Gateway's first phase renovations of Chicago Data Center to be completed by Environmental Systems Design.

Facility Gateway Corporation, who was selected to manage the 601 W. Polk building in downtown Chicago, chose Environmental Systems Design (ESD), a consulting-engineering firm for data center and mission critical facilities, to design the first phase of Facility Gateway Corporation’s four phase data center project.

The first phase of the build-out will be complete with raised floor across the entire 25,000-square foot server room. In addition, 601 Polk’s infrastructure will be built out to accommodate approximately 6,500-square feet of server space. Each subsequent phase will drive growth by providing additional infrastructure to support future server space. The end result will be a secured, move-in ready data center environment for tenants seeking a downtown Chicago location with adequate power, space, carrier neutrality, and infrastructure redundancy.

“Due to current demand in the Chicago marketplace, this is an optimum time for the development of collocation facilities,” said Paul Schlattman, Vice President of ESD Mission Critical Facilities. “Facility Gateway has a unique approach representing equipment manufacturing at the distribution level, thus reducing construction costs. This creates a very competitive price point in the Chicago IT market.”

Ronnie Sebren, General Manager at Facility Gateway Corporation, stated: “We are very excited to apply our approach and develop data center space in the constrained Chicago market. By incorporating the right scaling elements into the design and base build with ESD, Facility Gateway will be able to facilitate growth and customization over time at highly competitive price points.”
