Main Street Broadband announced today that its wireless broadband network serving rural communities in Northwest Florida has recently been expanded to serve residents in Bonifay, Chipley, Cottondale and Marianna Florida. More than 10,000 households and businesses in these communities now have access to affordable high speed Internet connectivity. For many of these residents, Main Street Broadband is the only high speed alternative to dial-up or satellite services. For others, Main Street Broadband represents an alternative to outdated DSL or cable Internet service.

“Our focus is providing quality and affordable high speed Internet service to the residents and businesses in these communities in Holmes, Jackson and Washington Counties,’’ stated Mike Mies, Co-Founder and CEO. In partnership with the USDA’s Rural Utility Service, Main Street Broadband provides state of the art Internet access to communities throughout South Georgia and North Florida that are considered underserved in broadband technology. “We receive such positive feedback from our customers on how they use our services, from continuing education to utilizing social media and enabling small business efficiencies,” said Mies.

One great example comes from Ronnie and Nancy Finch of Chipley, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Finch were so delighted to finally have broadband access, they wrote to the Company. “Even though we were told that we were within Main Street’s service area, we were dubious, based on attempts made by other local providers,” they wrote. “The results have been wonderful. We can now skype our grandchildren in Tallahassee. We are so happy. Our quality of life is much enhanced due in large part to your outstanding employees.”

Main Street Broadband is serving these communities from five tower sites. This expansion brings the total Main Street network to nearly 200,000 households from over 100 sites in Florida and Georgia. In Northwest Florida, Main Street is serving consumers in 17 rural communities in Bay, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Leon, Wakulla and Washington Counties.
