Experienced executive with more than twenty years of leadership in the global semiconductor industry joins LIghT.

LIghT Surgical™ has named John Bubel as President, responsible for the day to day operations of the company. Bubel was previously vice president of Avantor Performance Material’s semiconductor business unit.

As President, Bubel will work with founder and CEO, Austin Crowder, and the LIghT team to further the company’s growth strategies.

In particular, he’s been exceptionally successful in growing semiconductor materials business initiatives on a global scale, and will be instrumental in bringing world class quality and supply chain processes to LIghT as we continue to achieve unprecedented levels of growth. Bubel began his career with National Starch and Chemical Corporation in 1987 as a technical services engineer. He moved to Formica Corporation in 1988 where he earned a rapid series of promotions through the quality and manufacturing organizations, ultimately becoming the plant manager for Formica’s solid surface manufacturing facility. Bubel joined Rodel, Inc. in 1994 as the manufacturing director for their chemical mechanical planarization polishing pad used in the manufacture of advanced semiconductor devices. He served in a number of engineering, sales, and marketing management roles for Rodel as a stand-alone business, and after the company’s acquisition by Rohm and Haas.

Bubel joined ATMI in 2006 as the Business Unit Director for their specialty chemicals business, and moved to Avantor in 2009 as the Marketing Director for their electronic materials business. He was subsequently promoted to Vice President of Avantor’s electronic materials division, running the business from the Asian headquarters he established in Hsinchu, Taiwan.

Bubel received a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University in 1987, and a Masters of Business Administration from Lehigh University in 1992.
