ORTEC Mobile covers all the bases, said Christian Schenk, vice president of market development and product marketing, Xata.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 22, 2012
ORTEC, a global software and resource optimization provider, and Xata Corporation, a leading provider of intuitive, automated fleet management software solutions to the trucking industry, today announced enhancements to ORTEC Mobile, an advanced routing and scheduling software featuring mobile POD, DOT compliance and GPS capabilities. ORTEC Mobile helps users reduce miles and costs through route compliance; increase customer service levels; gain real-time visibility of fleet operations via GPS; provide digital POD and electronic invoicing to help reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO); and help comply with CSA regulations.
Eden Prairie, MN-based Xata delivers real-time critical information on vehicle and driver performance, making it easy for fleet managers, dispatchers and drivers to collect, sort, view and analyze data to help reduce costs and increase safety and compliance. Xata was the first to provide paperless driver logs, exception-based fleet management and learned standards for accurate business intelligence. Xata’s products seamlessly combine enterprise software, onboard computing, real-time communications and global positioning to provide an enterprise-wide logistics management solution for trucking operations.
“ORTEC and Xata are each leaders in innovation and dedicated to providing customers with enterprise software solutions that cover all the bases,” said Christian Schenk, vice president of market development and product marketing, Xata. “ORTEC Mobile covers everything…it’s cutting-edge, one-stop shopping for your fleet.”
ORTEC’s software solution achieves both static and dynamic, cost-efficient transportation schedules. The ORTEC Mobile solution ensures route compliance and provides customers with the ability to manage real-time events by exception. ORTEC Mobile also provides customers with vastly improved dispatch and real-time capabilities. Optimizing routes reduces overall transportation costs by minimizing fuel, repair, maintenance and labor expenses. The enhanced software provides real-time updates for events such as resource status and location, changes due to real-time occurrences and improved communications with resources in the field.
“ORTEC Mobile makes ‘management by exception’ a daily reality, not a dream,” commented Corné Aantjes, ORTEC’s CEO of the Americas. “We empower our customers, enabling them to detect operational problems in real time and correct them immediately. The global recession has led to employees taking on more roles and responsibilities, so delegating tasks to software that manages by exception frees up employees to focus on customer service. ORTEC Mobile helps our customers reach higher service levels, improve transportation network by reducing mileage and fuel consumption and, importantly, comply with CSA and DOT HOS regulations.”
Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) Update

Previously named CSA2010 (Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010), CSA is a proactive initiative to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of FMCSA’s enforcement and compliance program. Work on this program began in 2004 as an effort by the enforcement community to use resources wisely. Prior to CSA, only 2% (12,000) of all motor carriers could be reached for a compliance review. CSA allows for more contact with more motor carriers in real-time, with emphasis on those carriers who are exhibiting problems in safety. It works as follows:
- Uses all roadside inspection results and crash reports to identify safety deficiencies
- Employs a wider array of interventions tailored to problems instead of solely the time-intensive Compliance Review process
- Enables more carriers to be contacted earlier
- Requires sustained accountability of carriers and increases accountability of drivers
