Intelex Technologies will host a one-of-a-kind webinar on the value of ISO 50001, an international energy management standard released last year by the International Organization for Standardization. The free webinar, Empowering Your Energy Management Program: ISO 50001 Certification Made Easy, will provide an introduction to the standard as well as guidance on achieving certification.

The buzz around ISO 50001 has been heating up in recent months as organizations around the world are seeking to both reduce energy-related costs and mitigate their role in climate change, to which energy production and consumption is a leading contributor.

“There is an obvious bottom-line reason to improve your energy management strategy – reduced energy consumption means reduced costs, and those costs can be quite severe in many industries,” notes Fraser Dickie, webinar host and energy management solutions expert at Intelex. “Minimizing environmental impacts is another massive benefit of implementing this standard that cannot be ignored.”

A recent study by renowned climate scientist Andrew Weaver showed that coal, which supplies about a third of the world’s energy, is one of the largest contributors to climate change and its continued use could lead to a 15 °C rise in the average global temperatures. Coupled with quickly rising energy costs and controversy over oil supplies, it’s becoming apparent to companies in North America and globally that optimizing energy efficiency is an increasingly integral part of doing business.

The ISO 50001 energy management standard is a framework that organizations in all industries can leverage to streamline energy management, thereby reducing energy consumption. Intelex Technologies Inc., which develops environment, health, safety (EHS) and quality management software, has decades of experience helping organizations implement and manage ISO standards.

The webinar starts at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, February 23. Visit the webinar page to register and attend. Those who miss the live broadcast will be able to access the webinar on an on-demand basis afterwards.
