St. Augustine Historic Inn's "History With Heart" Contest Launches Interactive - New Website Brings Social Networking to City's 450th Birthday Celebration

Saint Augustine Historic Inns (SAHI) is kick-starting a new, interactive website with a contest asking visitors how St. Augustine might capture legendary singer Tony Bennett's heart - the one he famously lost in San Francisco in his classic recording. Win an amazing evening with Tony Bennet on March 20, 2012 plus a digital camcorder and other great prizes!

In addition to inviting Website contributions, also contains a wealth of information on St. Augustine history, upcoming events, attractions, accommodations and personal videos. More contests are planned, seeking ideas for celebratory events and insider tips on discovering romance, history and fun in the nation's oldest city.

"Our SAHI members are committed to promoting St. Augustine and we decided that creating a place where fellow Augustinians can organize, plan, discuss, debate, and share what they love about their home was the best way we could help get the word out," says SAHI president Dave Brezing.

Ideas for the anniversary celebration will be encouraged with contests for the best submitted ideas for possible St. Augustine events visitors would like to see during the celebration. Personal stories of living and working in Saint Augustine, favorite attractions, vacation remembrances, videos, pictures, and other content are welcome, too.

St. Augustine was founded by Spain in 1545 and the city's celebration is being unfurled throughout the next four years leading up to its official anniversary in 2015. Notable events will include the Bicentennial of the Spanish Constitution in 2012, the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon's discovery of Florida in 2013, the marking of 50 years since the ratification of the Civil Rights Act in 2014, and the 450th anniversary of Saint Augustine in 2015.

Tell us via a short 2 minute video, or a few sentences, a song or a photo what you think is special about St. Augustine or a place close to your heart that will seduce Tony Bennett - and other visitors - into being smitten by the Oldest City.

Your contributions will tell the world what is spectacular about St. Augustine as the community works up to celebrations of its 450 birthday in 2015. The best entry as voted on by visitors to the site and our judges will win the prize, an evening with Tony Bennett! Contest Entry Period begins at 10:00 pm Eastern Time on February 7, 2012 and ends at 10:00 pm (ET) on March 5, 2012. A panel of St. Augustine Historic Inns' Innkeeper judges will select the final winner, to be announced March 13th, 2012. In addition to the Tony Bennett concert, the prize package includes a limo ride to the concert, brunch at Raintree Restaurant, a private horse and carriage ride, and more.
