“My understanding was that the doctor, while hopping up and down on one foot and singing the national anthem, was going to remove my lymph nodes using a butter knife, a hacksaw, and some 10W-30 motor oil.” This is the sort of wry humor that fills the pages of Rob Ballister’s “God Does Have a Sense of Humor” (published by iUniverse), a unique, humorous book on a life inspired by victory over cancer, military service, dating disasters and growing up Italian in New Jersey.
Ballister drew from his extensive experience to craft this collection of short, funny stories. Each is designed to be read quickly, allowing those on the go to just read one, get a good laugh, and go on with their day. “I enjoy making people laugh, especially those in real need of a smile, like those fighting a tough disease or experiencing long separations from loved ones,” Ballister says. “As a cancer survivor and member of the military, I’m familiar with both.”
“God Does Have a Sense of Humor” received the 2007 Military Writers Society of America Gold Medal for Creative Non-Fiction, Humor.
