Legal Netlink Alliance, an international association of law firms, held its Winter General Meeting at the Novotel Hotel Luxembourg Kirchberg on January 27th and 28th. The event was kindly hosted by law firm Etude Martin et Vion. The weekend was attended by 50 members and their partners.
A special visit to the European Court of Justice had been arranged by the hosts, where members heard presentations from the Legal Secretary to Sir Konrad Schiemannat, Judge at CJEU, and Mr. Stanislas Adam, a “référendaire” working with Judge Forwood.
On Friday evening, members and partners attended a cocktail reception and dinner at Le Sud, located at the foot of “Les Rives de Clausen” at the former brewery district in the Old Town of Luxembourg. An exquisite meal was prepared by chef Christophe Petra, winner of a Michelin Star in both 2010 and 2011.
The general session on Saturday included three very interesting and informative presentations. Erwan Loquet, Partner at BDO Tax & Accounting, led a session called “How to tax the electronic world.” Dr. Andrea Marlière, Managing Director of NetCo Consulting GmbH, provided great insights into cloud computing and SaaS (Software as a Service), and Austrian member Dr Christofer Straberger gave an update on European Law Developments. All three sessions were very well received by attendees.
Peter Watson, President of LNA Europe, said “One of the strengths of Legal Netlink is the knowledge that each member brings to the collective group. This year’s presentations were outstanding, and they continue to be a highlight of each meeting.”
The meeting concluded on Saturday evening with a gala dinner at Neumünster Abbey. Members were treated to cocktails and classical piano, followed by dinner in the Abbey’s cloisters.
Legal Netlink’s next major events are the U.S. Spring Meeting being held in Chicago, Illinois on May 11th and 12th, and the European Summer Meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland on June 29th and 30th.
