"When people wear these pendants, we want them to emulate Silver's determination and his heart...to believe in yourself, to never give up, and to make good things happen."

At a time when most dogs dream of greener pastures, 9 year old sled dog, Silver and his owner, Brent Sass, are gearing up to run the grueling 1000 mile Iditarod on March 3. Silver and Brent who owns "Wild and Free Mushing" have run many races in Alaska, but at the ripe old age of 9, running as the team's lead sled dog for this rigorous race is unusual for all but those dogs with the biggest heart--and Silver has both heart and determination. Previously recognized for his courage in saving snow storm stranded competitors, Silver and his owner, Brent, were the first recipients of the "Silver Legacy Award," an award that honors incredible deeds and feats of bravery. Brent Sass admits to being a dreamer who has made his dreams comes true. Every penny Brent earns is spent caring for his beloved dogs, being out on the trail and encouraging others to follow their hearts.
Artist and jeweler, Teresa Mahler, knows all about pursuing your dreams. After spending years in the computer industry, she was determined to make changes in her life after meeting Brent and Silver in June 2011. Teresa started "Spring to Mind", a company that sells handmade jewelry and gifts. In honor of Silver's achievements and upcoming run in this year's Iditarod, Teresa worked with Brent to create a limited edition line of jewelry with Silver's likeness and the words "I Believe". A portion of the proceeds from each pendant sale will benefit Silver, Brent and their company, "Wild and Free Mushing." Most of all, to Teresa Mahler and Brent Sass, these pendants and the words "I believe" symbolize the importance of never letting your dreams die. "When people wear these pendants, we want them to emulate Silver's determination and his heart...to believe in yourself, to never give up, and to make good things happen."
Limited edition pendants honoring Silver and Brent will be available for sale from February 27 through December 31, 2012, and will cost $35 for the soldered glass pendant, and $175 for the fine silver pendant. Pendants can be purchased at Spring to Mind's website at http://www.springtomind.com.
