Brand Learning won its 2012 award at a ceremony in London on 22nd February. Brand Learning’s Co-founders, Mhairi McEwan (CEO) and Andy Bird (Executive Director) were also runners up in The Sunday Times ‘Best Leader’ of a small private company award category, an accolade they won in 2011. This award means Brand Learning have secured a top 5 place in the Top 100 companies listing every year for the past 4 years.

This year’s awards saw over 500 small companies apply for accreditation by Best Companies with over 300 being chosen for detailed survey including site visits before the top 100 were invited to attend the awards ceremony held last night at Battersea Park, London. The views of 246,000 employees were surveyed by Best Companies this year making it the most comprehensive survey of its kind in the UK.

Brand Learning, whose clients include Unilever, Shell, Vodafone, Kellogg, PepsiCo and AstraZeneca has risen steadily up the list since it first entered in 13th position in 2008, moving to fifth place in 2009 and 3rd place in 2010 before it hit the winning position for the first time in 2011 and sustaining a top three position this year. The company has now been awarded the maximum 3* accreditation by Best Companies for ‘extraordinary performance’ for five years in a row.

Despite the global recession, Brand Learning continues to successfully build its business and with a team of 140 employees and consultants is currently delivering growth of 20% year on year - on track to deliver a turnover of £15 million by its year end. In the past year alone it has recruited over 40 new employees and has attracted 20 new clients including, Kellogg & McDonalds (USA), Vodafone, GSK & Barclaycard (UK) , UMB & Uralsib (Europe) and Asia Pacific Breweries & Optus (Asia Pacific).

Brand Learning has also grown its international operations significantly over the past year and has also recently opened an office in New York. Over 50% of Brand Learning’s business is now sourced outside the UK and it has supported over 100 clients in over 60 countries.

In December 2011 Brand Learning co-founders Andy Bird and Mhairi McEwan published their first book, The Growth Drivers (Wiley), capturing their pioneering philosophy, approaches and tools, and exploring how organizations can transform their capabilities to create better customer value to drive growth.

Mhairi McEwan, co-founder and CEO of Brand Learning, comments: “It means a huge amount to our whole team to be recognised again by Best Companies for all our efforts. The past year has been a truly landmark year for us. Not only have we celebrated 11 great years in business but we’ve also had our first book published and opened our first overseas office in New York – the first of several planned globally in the next few years. We have invested heavily in restructuring our team so that we can continue to support and better service our clients and create and embed global initiatives.”

Andy Bird, co-founder and Executive Director adds: “Brand Learning has enjoyed an average annual growth of 25% since we set it up in 2000 and this has been made possible by an extraordinary team of people who share deep expertise in marketing and a passion for learning. Never content to rest on our laurels, we are innovating in many areas and investing heavily to ensure that we stay at the forefront of marketing and of marketing capability development in the digital world in which organisations now operate.”
Brand Learning’s passion is to transform the marketing capabilities and commercial performance of people, teams and organisations across the world.
