Growth Improves As Continuous Improvement Matures

Manufacturing leadership survey sponsored by TBM Consulting Group: Companies with moderate or mature CI programs have more cash; and better revenues, operating income growth.

While global manufacturers commonly use continuous-improvement (CI) programs such as lean management and Six Sigma to control costs, increase productivity and improve quality, executives at these same companies often overlook the ultimate benefit of long-term CI implementation — improved top- and bottom-line growth and increased cash flow.

According to the TBM Consulting Group sponsored 12-page report and one-hour webinar, “Breakthrough Objectives and Continuous Improvement: Closing The Gaps,” companies with CI programs are much more successful at increasing revenues, operating income and cash flow; the ability to grow increases as a company’s CI program matures, and to get more from their CI programs, leaders should improve communications, speed up problem solving, and have a better understanding of customer demand.

TBM partnered with IndustryWeek magazine to survey its executive-level readers. The partners wanted to ascertain how leaders were incorporating CI into growth strategies. The report and webinar were based on the survey of roughly 38,000 readers with c-level, VP, or director titles; with a response rate of 0.8%.

The findings and report will be discussed in depth at an executive roundtable April 23-25 at the 2012 IW Best Plants Conference in Indianapolis.
