MSA Executive Search, the executive search practice of Integrated Healthcare Strategies, a national consulting firm dedicated exclusively to healthcare, announced today that a nationwide search for Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems (EMHS) concluded with the placement of Derrick O. Hollings as the new Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. Hollings will begin his new post on April 9, 2012.
EMHS President and CEO, M. Michelle Hood, FACHE said, “We contracted with MSA Executive Search to identify a pool of qualified CFO candidates. In all, EMHS was presented with twelve exceptionally qualified candidates. Derrick Hollings was selected from the final group of five following two rounds of exhaustive interviews.”
“Derrick is uniquely qualified to fill one of the most important roles in our system,” continues Hood. “He is a well-rounded, strategic thinker whose expertise in helping healthcare organizations position themselves strategically through financial best practices will greatly benefit EMHS. His experience and knowledge will complement what is an already high functioning executive leadership team.”
In the Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer position, Hollings will oversee strategic and tactical matters relating to financial services, treasury, property management and self-insurance programs. Responsibilities include oversight of support services that are provided across the system and nearly 200 full and part-time employees - including EMHS staff based at various system member organizations.
“EMHS tasked MSA Executive Search with finding a healthcare leader to perform a key role in leading a continually evolving, mission-driven health system toward higher levels of integration,” said Jane Groves, Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor at MSA Executive Search. “Derek Hollings was clearly a highly qualified candidate and a front runner when we presented the slate of candidates.”
Hollings comes to EMHS from United Medical Center in Washington, DC. During his two and a half year tenure there, Hollings filled two separate roles: executive vice president of hospital operations and CFO. Hollings, a graduate of University of Alabama at Birmingham, has spent his career in academic medical centers, community hospitals and joint venture companies. Experience in these settings, Hollings believes, makes him uniquely qualified to understand the many financial concerns of the broad array of companies within EMHS.
