Famed poet Oscar Wilde once said, “Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” To secure his own thoughts and riches on paper comes “The Book of Daniel” (published by AuthorHouse), a collection of Dan Chapman's poetry dedicated to themes of idle thought, beguiling love and clichéd humor. Included within the book are Chapman's reflections on social, religious and personal issues, love defined and denied, as well as several from the absurd. "They are," as Chapman notes, "...some of my impressions of life occasionally based on love which often cause my laughter.”
When asked about his inspiration for writing “The Book of Daniel,” Chapman responded candidly, “Being divorced and separated from my children so much, I decided to leave a sort of ‘legacy’ of my feelings and attitudes in poetic form to them and others.”
From the poem, “Love Should Make Sense”:
“Because the risk is worth the dance,
True love is more than music’s trance.
All I really want to be
Is someone who is free
To share the life he sees
With one who agrees,
’Love should make sense.’”
Chapman's poetry is sure to make readers think, make them cry, or make them laugh – in one way or another it will leave an impression.
