NUREMBERG, Germany (PRWEB) February 28, 2012
At the Embedded World trade fair today, Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, announced a collaboration with Softing Industrial Automation on a new development kit to enable industrial automation and process control equipment manufacturers to develop systems faster and more easily.
The new OLE for Process Control (OPC) Unified Architecture (UA) Development Toolkits from Softing will be enabled by an Emerson Network Power MicroATX embedded motherboard (MATXM-CORE-411-WR), based on the Intel® Core™ i7 processor, with Wind River's operating systems, tools and embedded hypervisor. This package will enable the quick and easy development of OPC UA clients and servers for real-time and complex industrial applications using. With this development kit, users will be able to save several months of development time and reduce the time-to-market for their products.
OPC technology is a de-facto standard for interoperable data exchange between multivendor software applications that is applicable in a wide range of industries from manufacturing and process control to building automation and others. The OPC UA, based on an open standard specification, provides a cross-platform service-oriented architecture for process control, while enhancing security over previous industrial communication stack implementations and providing an information model.
Customers of this technology will benefit from the close relationship between these three market-leading companies. Softing joined the Wind River Partner Validation program in 2009, and is committed as a strategic partner to validate its software stack on the latest releases of Wind River’s operating systems. This will provide the customer the leverage of using products that have been tested to work well together.
Emerson Network Power is a strategic hardware partner and participant in the Wind River On Board Program. This close partnership brings excellent out of the box experience to the customer, with boards available featuring an Embedded Development Kit containing a bootable USB flash drive that immediately turns any host computer into a fully integrated development environment (IDE) with no installation required.
The new Softing OPC UA Development Tool Kits are available from Softing Industrial Automation.
