Boston University’s online [Retirement Management Program has gained approval by the Massachusetts Division of Insurance (MA DOI) to grant 23 credit hours of continuing education through its Center for Professional Education. In order to achieve this status, the University completed an extensive application process—including detailed review of the course outline and methodology—and successfully demonstrated the overall breadth and depth of the program.
Licensed producers/brokers in the Commonwealth who seek continuing education enroll in a five-week online course of study and then apply for credit though Boston University. The program is offered three times a year—fall, spring, and summer. The spring 2012 semester begins May 8.
BU’s Retirement Management program prepares financial advisors and professionals for a key credential in retirement income planning and management: designation as a Retirement Management Analyst℠ (RMA℠). Successful completion of the online program fulfills the educational requirements toward the RMA℠ designation, as determined by the Retirement Income Industry Association (RIIA).
“Approval as a Continuing Education Provider demonstrates the quality of BU’s programs for financial professionals. We are proud to be recognized by the Massachusetts Division of Insurance and pleased to be among the few educational institutions that meet the standards for offering exemplary continuing education courses,” said Ruth Ann Murray, assistant dean for business development and director, Center for Professional Education, at Boston University’s Metropolitan College.
