Supporting the Polar Bear Plunge has been a special privilege of ours. Special Olympics is a truly great cause that offers life-changing programs for our intellectually disabled.

Gotügo, a leading provider of portable restrooms in Baltimore, Northern Virginia and the DC metro areas, has taken an active role in giving back to the local community through generously donating time and services to area non-profits such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, and Special Olympics Maryland. Recently, gotügo was a leading contributor for the MSP Polar Bear Plunge, a yearly fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Maryland. The non-profit held its 16th annual fundraising event on January 28th, 2012 at Sandy Point Beach, Annapolis, Maryland.
Every year, plungers bravely take to the cold Chesapeake Bay waters to raise awareness around the thousands of athletes who actively participate in the Special Olympics Maryland sports programs. Starting in 1997 with a mere 350 plungers generating $75,000 in donations, the event has grown to over 55,000 participates who have raised a cumulative total of $16 million in donations and funding, making the Polar Bear Plunge the leading fundraiser in Maryland. Today, participants who raise a minimum of $50 dollars in pledges can partake in the plunging activities, receive a commemorative Plunge sweatshirt, an anniversary gift, and can walk away knowing they contributed to a worthy cause. The Polar Bear Plunge has become a popular Maryland event, and is frequented by local celebrities including elected officials, media personalities, and Ravens players.
All pledges raised from the MSP Polar Bear Plunge directly benefit Special Olympics Maryland. Special Olympics Maryland is the state’s largest year- round organization that is dedicated specifically to sports training and competition for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. Funds raised through the annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge event allow individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate in the program at no cost, offering a life changing experience for many.
For the previous five years, gotügo has generously contributed to the Polar Bear Plunge event, offering discounted porta potty rentals at a fourth of the original cost.
Stacey Sherbert, VP of Sales and Marketing, discussed gotügo’s involvement with Special Olympics Maryland: “Supporting the Polar Bear Plunge has been a special privilege of ours. Special Olympics is a truly great cause that offers life-changing programs for our intellectually disabled. We are very proud to be a part of this organization and look forward to continually supporting their cause well into the future.”
While gotügo remains heavily involved with charitable causes throughout the year, Special Olympics Maryland is one of the primary non-profits that gotügo continually focuses on donating their time and services to on an annual basis.
