Vedero Software Enables Automation Allowing Commercial Customers To Benefit From Demand Response

Joule Assets, a leader in energy management solutions, and Vedero Software, a leading provider of automated demand response solutions, today announced an alliance aimed at jointly offering commercial customers a sophisticated automation platform enabling automated participation in demand response programs across the United States. Demand Response refers to incentive programs offered by utilities and regional grid operators that pay revenue to clients willing to reduce electricity consumption ‘on demand’ when grid conditions indicate the possibility of blackouts.

Vedero Software automatically reduces a client’s energy usage during emergency grid events based on pre-defined and tested curtailment scenarios. Automated curtailment ensures that the committed load is indeed reduced while at the same time keeping occupants in buildings relatively comfortable. Beyond economic benefits to commercial customers, demand response programs improve reliability of the electric grid during power shortages, and defers or avoids the costly build out of additional electrical capacity needed to deal with peak periods.

“The Joule Assets team has the industry expertise and national footprint needed to identify those commercial customers that can best benefit from our automated demand response platform” said Joe Pollard, CEO and Co-Founder of Vedero Software. “We are pleased to be offering our solution through their team of visionaries that can add value throughout the planning, implementation and financing process”.

Energy Reduction Asset (ERA) market opportunities are substantial and expanding. Joule Assets products and services are designed to inform people about Energy Reduction Assets (ERAs) and to drive commerce and investment into ERA opportunities thereby reducing our dependence on carbon-based energy. Joule does this by highlighting consumers' options, by describing what financing and earning opportunities are available in their location for selected measures, and by linking them to others who can help them achieve their energy reduction goals, e.g., equipment vendors, project developers, financial institutions, aggregators.

“Demand Response to date has been largely limited to industrial users or commercial clients with backup generation that can simply turn off power or switch to generators,” said Mike Gordon, Chief Executive Officer, Joule Assets. “By connecting our clients with companies like Vedero Software who have the knowhow to automate demand response, we can enable a vast array of commercial clients such as Hospitals, Universities and Real Estate Management companies to harness their energy assets and generate revenue while still keeping the building occupants comfortable”.
