Audience for Demand Media’s second screen experience of Academy Awards grows 30% over 2011

Demand Media, Inc. (NYSE:DMD), a leading content and social media company, today announced that its live event platform, CoveritLive, powered an audience of nearly a million active readers during Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony. This represents 30% growth over CoveritLive’s 2011 Oscars audience. Over 300 online publications and broadcasters, including People Magazine, LeMonde, Entertainment Weekly, Forbes, New York Magazine and Yahoo! used CoveritLive to engage their audiences with interactive coverage of the Oscars.

As in prior years, CoveritLive coverage of the Oscars was a global phenomenon, with big audiences in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil. But The Artist, with a French director and French male and female leads, helped push LeMonde’s CoveritLive audience to the world’s largest.
