Our goal is to educate both children and their parents on the importance of working first with businesses and institutions that are deeply rooted within the local community.

Think Nemo meets financial education, with a twist. That's how the owners of the Dani Dolphin & Friends Kids Club describe their groundbreaking new program that also teaches children the value of spending and saving within the community.
“The program helps kids learn important age-appropriate financial concepts, and in that respect our club is similar to other co-branded youth outreach programs for financial institutions,” said co-owner Ray Beauchamp, a kids club veteran who has developed and managed co-branded financial education programs for children, teens, and young adults for more than 14 years. “What sets us apart is that we also emphasize the importance of keeping and spending money within the community as often as possible.”
The club's website is equally innovative, providing unprecedented co-branding opportunities to the host financial institution or agency while equipping kids and their parents with an RSS feed to help them stay on top of frequent updates to the site's engaging and informative content. The website also features a high level of interactivity and seamless integration with social networking venues such as Facebook and YouTube.
"Kids today are quick to embrace the latest technology," commented co-owner Angela Beauchamp, who has 15 years of experience as an elementary school teacher. "We think it's important that financial services providers do the same if they want to connect effectively with this generation.” She added that iPhone and Android smart-phone apps will be included on the club's impressive feature list in the next few weeks.
Another unique element of the Dani Dolphin & Friends Kids Club is that the program also delivers educational materials to the parents of the children to help them better manage their family's finances. A special section of the club's website provides parents with coaching on key tasks such as setting up and sticking with a budget, saving for their children's education, and preparing a will. Just like their kids, parents are also urged to consider local providers first when spending, saving, or borrowing – and to raise their children to do the same.
"It's critical that community members understand the key role that locally based financial services providers play in stimulating and sustaining the local economy," said Ray Beauchamp. "Our goal is to educate both children and their parents on the importance of working first with businesses and institutions that are deeply rooted within the local community," he continued.
“We think it's time to put communities first,” said Angela Beauchamp. “In addition to all the financial education materials we provide, that's what this program is all about.”
