We are definitely aware of the changing dynamics in the trucking industry and the shortage of qualified drivers is going to increase; we feel there’s an opportunity for women to enter that arena and help fill some of that void."

Hyundai Translead has joined Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC, Frito-Lay NA and Walmart as top sponsors of the nonprofit organization.
“As the association continues to grow and become a greater influence in the trucking industry, we will be able to move more quickly toward our goal to encourage and support women at all levels who find a career that involves trucks,” said Ellen Voie, WIT President/CEO. “We are especially pleased to welcome Hyundai Translead, a trailer manufacturer, as a Gold Level partner,” Voie added.
Bob Hawkins, Hyundai Translead’s Vice President of National Accounts will serve on the WIT board of directors. “There are two things that helped us decide to become WIT partners,” said Hawkins. “We are definitely aware of the changing dynamics in the trucking industry and the shortage of qualified drivers is going to increase; we feel there’s an opportunity for women to enter that arena and help fill some of that void,” he added, “it’s a new venture for us but we attended our first board meeting with other members and we see a quality organization that we are pleased to support.”
Women In Trucking Association has experienced considerable growth in its five-year existence. Upcoming events include the “Influential Woman of the Year,” award sponsored by Navistar and the Third Annual “Salute to Women Behind the Wheel,” held at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky in March.
