Amerinet Inc., a leading national healthcare solutions organization, recently made available to members its Inflationary Indices for 2012, which include company and industry projections for inflation rates across several categories over the coming year.
“These indices are another example of how Amerinet connects our members with timely and valuable information from top experts that is vital in today’s healthcare environment,” said Dale Wright, Amerinet’s senior vice president of contracting and president, Amerinet Choice. “With this information on possible pricing issues based on market dynamics, members have another decision support tool to assist in efficiency and cost reduction.”
These projections represent industry inflationary performance, actual pricing through Amerinet contracts and programs, and the expected impact of upcoming contract
bids. The Amerinet Inflationary Indices are published biannually and updated to reflect any market trends or changes.
The report offers estimates in categories including diagnostic imaging, environmental services, executive resources, foodservice, laboratory, medical supplies, office solutions, pharmacy, plant engineering and surgical supplies.
There is expected to be particular upward pricing pressure in the areas of Ionic contrast media and X-ray film developing products and paint and plumbing supplies. Continued rising fuel costs and increases in the price of raw materials continue to put pressure on manufacturers and suppliers.
Although inflationary increases are many times subject to social, economic and political pressures and are extremely difficult to accurately predict, Amerinet’s members benefit from price protection controls and pricing being locked in for a majority of contracts.
“Our excellent, long-standing relationships with our supplier partners allow us to maintain a certain level of pricing stability for our valued members,” said Wright.
