Lauren Engineers & Constructors recently received the National Safety Merit Award from Associated Builders and Contractors. This highly competitive award is bestowed annually on a few select contractors who maintain an industry leading safety program, proven by best-in-class safety results.
According to Chris Williams, Director of Safety for ABC, in 2011 ABC received 2,160 applications to be considered for ABC's Safety Excellence Awards. Of those 2,160 companies, only 554 (25%) met the minimum qualifying criteria to apply for the National Safety Excellence and Merit Awards (96 STEP Diamond recipients and 460 STEP Platinum recipients). 10 STEP Diamond recipients were selected as Excellence winners and 8 STEP Diamond recipients were selected as Merit award winners - out of 23 Diamond recipients that submitted applications for the National Safety Excellence Award competition.
"The Merit Safety Award is a proud accomplishment, but the real success is in the safety of our workers," said Todd Meek, Lauren’s Corporate Safety Director. "Knowing that we provide a safe work environment so that our workers can go home healthy at the end of each day; that is what it is all about."
