Best of IMCA Brings Leading Conference Content to a Local Level

Investment Management Consultants Association® (IMCA®) is recognized throughout the financial services industry for its leading-edge conference content, and the association is offering its education at a local level in 2012. Six “Best of IMCA” seminars—day-long events in the United States and Canada created in conjunction with top-25 business school faculty and prominent industry practitioners—remain this year. Each Best of IMCA seminar features the chance to learn investment consulting and wealth management strategies from two of the six established Best of IMCA speakers, including two professors from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

“The Best of IMCA series represents a valuable opportunity to experience our industry-leading educational content without sacrificing extensive time away from the office,” said Ian MacKenzie, IMCA’s deputy executive director of operations, who oversees IMCA’s conferences. “With only six events remaining in 2012, we encourage our members and those considering IMCA or our certifications to attend a Best of IMCA event and absorb our content firsthand. Any financial professional with an interest in advanced investment consulting and wealth management is welcome as an IMCA member and at these unique events.”

Two Best of IMCA events took place earlier in 2012, in Columbus and Minneapolis in January and February, respectively. Remaining 2012 Best of IMCA dates and locations are: Toronto (March 31), Denver (May 24), Dallas (June 28), Atlanta (August 22), St. Louis (October date TBD), and San Francisco (November date TBD). Media members interested in attending a Best of IMCA seminar should contact Ryan Hoffman at rhoffman@imca.org or 303.850.3079 for a complimentary registration. The cost for IMCA members is $195, and $395 for nonmembers, which includes a one-year IMCA membership. Starting with the Denver Best of IMCA, a six-month first-time-member join-and-go rate of $195 will be available to non-IMCA members. Artio Global Management LLC is the exclusive sponsor of the Best of IMCA series.

Since 1988, IMCA has offered the CIMA® certification, which earned accreditation by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in April 2011, making it the first financial services credential in the United States to meet international standards (ISO 17024) for personnel certification. IMCA announced in January that The University of Chicago Booth School of Business is now a registered education provider for CIMA certification, in addition to The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, which has offered the education component for CIMA certification since its inception. Both The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, are ranked among America’s best five business schools, according to the 2011 Forbes annual ranking of top business schools in the United States.

CIMA certification is designed for advanced investment advisors and consultants, and the CPWA® designation is suited for wealth management professionals working with high-net-worth clients. In addition to these certifications and Best of IMCA seminars, IMCA hosts five conferences for thousands of investment and wealth management professionals each year, including the IMCA 2012 Annual Conference, scheduled for April 23–25 near Washington, DC.
