We want authors to explore the relationship we have with the myriad of other creatures that inhabit this world – both the ones we know about, and the ones we don’t.

Curiosity Quills Press, the publisher behind Nathan L Yocum’s The Zona, Michael Shean’s Shadow of a Dead Star and other unique fiction, has launched a new project which will combine literature, poetry and art, while raising money for a good cause at the same time.

The Creature Feature anthology is open to a wide range of types of submissions, and has recently had its deadline extended to 23.59 on Sunday 22nd April to give more authors, poets, photographers and artists the opportunity to take part.

In Curiosity Quills’ announcement of the project, PR Manager Verity Linden said:

"We share our daily world with all manner of animals, from the domesticated beasts we consider friends or servants, to well documented wildlife, to the uncharted and terrifying denizens of deep seas and dense forests. All too often, we set ourselves above, separate from them – 'We are humans, and you, in all your vast variety, are animals.'

For this anthology, we want authors to explore the relationship we have with the myriad of other creatures that inhabit this world – both the ones we know about, and the ones we don’t. These creatures can be real or mythical, allies or predators, so long as they interact with either people or man-made factors.

What makes this anthology really unusual is that, in recognition of our responsibilities toward the pets humanity takes for granted, the author of each published story is asked to select an animal shelter to represent. In the two months following publication of the anthology readers will be able to vote for their favourite story and favourite artwork in anthology, with the top shelter for each receiving 50% of the publication’s total royalties."

To get involved, visit the submissions page at the Curiosity Quills Press website, and be sure to look for the anthology on shelves soon, due Summer 2012.

About Curiosity Quills Press

Curiosity Quills Press (http://curiosityquills.com), launched its independent publishing imprint in June, 2011 by writers, for writers, out of a common frustration with the state of publishing today. Instead of relying on readers to sift through the so-called "Amazon slush-pile", CQ presents a uniformly top-notch level of quality, tastefully curated, hard-hitting storylines, and memorable characters readers won't forget amidst their Kindle downloading sprees.

We know it's hard to stand out from the crowd when it's millions large, but Curiosity Quills Press helps level the playing field through its members' innovative social media approach, a transparent culture, and a deeply passionate team.
