The Melbourne-based tech startup, Affclicks Pty Ltd, today announced the official launch of a public beta of their web analytics app. “AffClicks”. Under intensive development for the past two years, AffClicks will perform several functions for professional affiliate marketers such as network commission aggregation; PPC bid management, ROI analysis and search phrase analytics.
“Life can be tough as an affiliate marketer with limited time and resources” co-founder Rob Ryan was quoted as saying. “…You have to be a web developer; a sales executive; a marketing analyst and a business manager. You’re constantly juggling relationships with merchants, networks and end users. Even when you think you are on top of everything you still have a hard time knowing exactly how profitable your business is and where best to invest your time, energy and money to grow your revenue. AffClicks was designed to address all these issues”.
After their initial setup is completed, AffClicks users will no longer have to constantly check their affiliate network statistics to assess the performance of their online campaigns. Transactional and commission data are automatically downloaded from the affiliate networks they are registered with at regular intervals. Currently supported networks include: Affiliate Window, Commission Junction, Webgains, TradeDoubler, Paid On Results, Affiliate Future, Zanox, Buy.At, AdTraction, LinkShare, Commission Monster and ClixGalore with many others scheduled for inclusion in the near future.
“We are fairly flexible in that much of our to do list will depend on user feedback, requests and interest so we are encouraging our users to let us know which networks they use and we will attempt to accommodate them as quickly as possible” Ryan said.
AffClicks is integrated into Google’s Adwords platform and regularly downloads PPC reports via the Adwords API. Integration into Microsoft’s PPC service, Adcenter, is scheduled to follow in the second quarter of 2012. PPC campaigns and accounts can be managed directly from within the AffClicks GUI. To minimize a possible learning curve, AffClicks has been designed so that affiliates can work with a PPC campaign management interface that is similar to the Adwords interface with which they are already familiar.
In addition to the standard PPCcampaign management functions the AffClicks interface contains several additional features and that are affiliate-friendly. These include the ability to sort keywords, campaigns and adgroups by net profit or loss based on their corresponding commission data which is downloaded at regular intervals from affiliate networks. AffClicks users can raise or lower their keyword bids in real time, setting their levels according to the profitability of each individual keyword or delete them altogether if they are making losses. Users can quickly determine which aspects of their campaigns are cash cows - and which are loss-making or profit neutral - and adjust their keyword lists and PPC budgets accordingly.
In addition to its strong PPC feature set AffClicks also provides a robust set of tools designed to analyze the performance of individual merchants. Murray Kester, AffClicks’ other co-founder remarked:
“Our view is that the amount of traffic being sent to merchants - especially paid traffic - should be dependent on how well each merchant is converting for the affiliate and how profitable those conversions are. AffClicks users can quickly compare conversion rates between merchants separating the star performers from the money pits”.
When commission is earned for a sale or lead it’s important to know as much as possible about the events that led to it so that they can be repeated and scaled up. AffClick provides useful data such as how the visitor found the affiliate’s website; which pages were viewed on it and what actions were taken such as which merchants’ sites were visited afterwards and which search terms led to conversions.
“Up until now, once an affiliate had passed a potential customer over to a merchant, it’s been extremely difficult to track what actions were performed on the merchant’s site and which search terms were used prior to a conversion. AffClicks users are no longer kept in the dark on these matters” said Kester.
You may also want to check later and see which search terms are turning a profit so you can focus your SEO effort on the pages/products that are converting well. You may also choose to add new keywords to an Adwords campaign derived from search phrases recorded by AffClicks which have previously resulted in leads or sales . You can then drive more traffic, sales and leads using the new keywords.
