Luxury label’s latest collection features rich textures and vivid African-inspired prints.

Described by Vogue UK as 'A bright star and label that has turned our heads with fresh ideas.'

International luxury label ASIBELUA ( presents its fourth collection, “African Collage,” to the global fashion community. The label’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection is immersed in sophisticated urban luxe. It pairs inspirational African design elements and contemporary silhouettes with French luxury workmanship, resulting in intrigue and opulence.

Designer Fati Asibelua continues with her unique vocabulary of colourful prints on luxury textiles, which have become the designer’s emblem of African exuberance. For the Autumn/Winter collection, ASIBELUA provides a dark edge in the vivid colour mix by exploring the possibilities of the colour black in her “African Kaleidoscope.” Richly textured black silks are the base of the collection and anchor the vivid prints and dense jacquards. Handmade, dip-dyed knitwear, jewel coloured silks and silk plated checks are also featured in the collection.

The designer’s beloved flower print returns with jacquards, checks and ottomans blending together in ASIBELUA’s signature “collage” approach on tailored cocktail dresses. New this season is embroidery, either black-on-black or layered on the prints, offered in clusters of black crystals, silk palettes and metal bullion ribbons.

The bold use of contrasting textures and exuberant prints create vibrant bursts in the streamlined shapes and designs that are both regal and racy.

“The colours and textiles of West Africa are a major source of inspiration,” the designer says. “The collection’s inspiration comes from African fusion; the patchwork of past and future mixed with the new urban environments.”

ASIBELUA will exhibit at Vendome Luxury in Paris from 2nd to 5th March.
