BigHand, the leading voice productivity vendor in the legal community supporting over 146,000 professionals globally, today announced that Adelaide based law firm Kelly & Co. has upgraded its standalone digital dictation system to the latest BigHand solution. The move to BigHand has improved the visibility and flow of work across the firm and significantly reduced the volume of calls logged with the firm's IT team.
Kelly & Co. recognised the need for an enterprise grade solution that would provide the firm with the means to accurately monitor the flow of work and assess staffing needs to better manage productivity.
Andrew Shaw, Information & Communications Technology Manager at Kelly & Co. commented:
“The existing solution didn't offer us any centralised management control, so there was no way to get an overview of the volume of dictations being handled, turnover times, or who was doing the work. The transcriptionists were limited in the extent to which they could help one another when one of them was overloaded. BigHand now allows us to easily manage the workload and this has given us greater control and improved productivity.
We chose BigHand over the others as it met all of our requirements, and at the same time looked and functioned like a modern and professional product. One of the alternatives we looked at provided similar features, but the user interface wasn’t as intuitive and general appearance wasn't in keeping with the image we wanted to portray to our staff.”
Kelly & Co. also adopted the BigHand for smartphone module. Although the firm has a lot of authors who use traditional devices such as the Olympus handsets, BigHand also provides them with an option to use their smartphone device if required when they are on-the-go.
Andrew Shaw concludes:
Initial feedback has been very positive from both Authors and Administration staff, some of whom were involved in the initial design decisions, which assisted in user acceptance. They find the technology very easy to use, and management have been impressed by the exceptional workflow processes and visibility to increase and better manage the output of completed work. Personally I couldn’t be happier with the solution as it requires a lot less first line support our end.
I expect we will see more of our fee earners opting to use BigHand in the future. We've already had a couple of additional authors added since we put in BigHand due to the speed at which BigHand allows us to turn work around, something which the previous solution didn’t deliver.
