Unlike most statistics software...ASO decides on the user's behalf how best to analyze the data it's given.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 01, 2012
Advise Analytics Inc., a Chicago-based scientific software company, announces the launch of a new expert system for statistics called 'A Second Opinion.'
A Second Opinion, or ASO, is an intelligent analytics advisor. Unlike most statistics software, which relies on the user’s expertise to analyze data correctly, ASO decides on the user’s behalf how best to analyze the data it’s given. The program makes intelligent observations about the data it sees, and then determines appropriate methods and transformations on its own.
ASO features an intuitive, minimalist interface to help users direct the program with plain verbs like ‘predict,’ ‘compare,’ or ‘cluster.’ Behind the scenes, the program automatically transforms the data and addresses subtle diagnostic issues. ASO then produces a whitepaper result with a customized explanation of the analysis it chose and the significant findings within the data, complete with interactive graphs and full bibliography.
As the name suggests, A Second Opinion was designed as a companion to traditional statistics packages, so that researchers can double-check their own conclusions. ASO helps guard against common pitfalls (outliers, anomalies, and other violations of statistical assumptions) that can trouble even the most sophisticated researchers. The program can also be used as a primary source for users who would like statistical analyses automatically computed and presented.
Advise Analytics Inc. was founded by Leland Wilkinson, creator of the original SYSTAT statistics package. Speaking on the occasion, Wilkinson said, “Using A Second Opinion is like having your own personal statistics advisor at your side. It’s the perfect companion for researchers and data analysts.”
Wilkinson continued, “The first generation of statistics software gave us a great deal of capability, but these programs more or less function like scientific calculators. You have to know exactly what buttons to push or what commands to program, and you can’t make a mistake. If you receive any help at all, it comes from restrictive, lock-step calculation wizards. We’re now building statistics expertise right into the program, so that researchers can have more confidence in their findings.”
Advise Analytics provides a free 30-day trial of A Second Opinion on its website, adviseanalytics.com.
