Customer satisfaction is at the forefront of our decision making process whenever we introduce a new product into the Brabantia line, so it only made sense that we would take that focus to the next level by having customers offer us their design ideas.
East Rutherford, NJ (PRWEB) March 01, 2012
Brabantia unveiled two new looks for its award winning Pedal Bin at the Chicago International Houseware show today. ‘I’ve BIN Romantic’ and ‘London’ Retro Bins designed by Gerda Elzenaar and Joran van der Haar, respectively, will be added as color options for Brabantia’s Pedal Bin, for a limited time only.
“Every product Brabantia makes is rigorously tested for ease of function, solid assembly and durability,” said Nicole Gnudi, Managing Director for Brabantia USA. “Customer satisfaction is at the forefront of our decision making process whenever we introduce a new product into the Brabantia line, so it only made sense that we would take that focus to the next level by having customers offer us their product design ideas.”
In 2010, Brabantia asked customers to create new designs for its ironing table covers. The winner of the contest, titled, “Iron in Style” was Joran van der Haar with his entry, “Love Ghent”. The contest was so popular that Brabantia repeated it in 2011. This time, 73,418 people from the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands and France visited Brabantia’s website to offer suggestions. The top 10 designs from each country recieved prizes with the first prize going to Dutch born artist, Gerda Elzenaar for her “Cherry Blossom” design.
Both Elzenaar and van der Haar’s original designs were incorporated into Brabantia’s line of ironing table covers. The designs were so popular that Brabantia called upon Elzenaar and van der Haar to create designs for its ever popular pedal bin. They responded with two very different and unique ideas.
‘I’ve BIN Romantic,’ submitted by Elzenaar, is a whimsical compilation of flower petals, buds and butterflies on a clever blue and pink background harkening back to the 1970’s era of “flower power.” Van der Haar’s, ‘London’ is a bold and vibrant design incorporating all things uniquely London from metro tokens and street art to the bold and beautiful Union Jack. Both designs will be offered this year as color options for Brabantia’s award winning Pedal Bin.
“Today’s home decor is unique and eclectic, that is why Brabantia offers customers a variety of color options for all its products,” said Ms. Gnudi. “For those who prefer the clean look of metal, Brabantia offers products in brilliant stainless steel or fingerprint-free matte finish.”
Brabantia’s Pedal Bin comes in sizes from 12 to 30 litres. The canister is made from durable stainless steel and features a plastic insert that can be removed for easy cleaning. The high tech, Motion Control Whisper lid is operated by a gentle tap to the stainless steel pedal. The pedal is tested up to 30,000 uses and the lid lifts silently and easily, reducing the spread of bacteria by eliminating the need to use ones hands during operation.
