On February 29, Few Spirits released 150 bottles of Few Barrel Aged Gin

FEW Spirits, Evanston’s own premiere craft distillery, has a few new plans of their own.

One of three producers of craft spirits in the Chicagoland area, FEW Spirits, has plans to release a very limited quantity of FEW Barrel Aged Gin on the last day of the month. The rarity of this spirit correlates well with the unique leap year date, February 29th, on which it is being introduced to the market in one-hundred and twenty bottles. In addition to the familiar warm juniper taste and citrus flavors present in FEW American Gin, this gin has been aged for four months within the distillery and is ripe in sweetness for drinking or enjoying within a classic cocktail. A favorite? The FEW Salty Dog.

To experience this cocktail, crush a rosemary sprig with a teaspoon of cane sugar in a cocktail shaker. Add two ounces of grapefruit juice, two ounces of gin, three to four cubes of ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a grapefruit wedge and salt to enjoy a drink that is both savory and refreshing. Serves one.

On the other hand, if you’re not feeling particularly salty -- enjoy the spirit neat, or on the rocks.

FEW Spirits has recently been recognized for many positive acclamations, including the Double Gold from the New York World Wine & Spirits competition for FEW White Whiskey and a "Highly Recommended" rating from the Beverage Tasting Institute. FEW Spirits has been critically acclaimed by many, as well as featured in both the Chicago Tribune and Whiskey Magazine, among other fine publications.

FEW Spirits, located at 918 Chicago Ave., Evanston, is open for tours and tastings from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and open for bottle sales 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
