Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 01, 2012

10Rate reviewer Jack Burden and other 10Rate staff selected 10 of the best Headphones for 2012 based on the following criteria.
According to 10Rate, testing and consideration were given in a controlled sound environment and rated on a scale of 1 to 10 based on the following set of criteria:
1 Comfortable wearing even for extended periods of time
2 Clear, sharp highs, steady mids, and tight lows
3 A powerful bass without distortion or muddiness
4 A long enough cable for some mobility
5 Compatibility with home stereo systems, computers, and mp3 players
6 Stylish, lightweight design that isn't too bulky

Though it did not itself win an award, the annual Top 10 Best Headphones 2012 awards list was topped by the Beyerdynamic DT 235 with a 9.5 out of 10 rating. The review noted several strengths of the headphones as follows, “The headphones are lightweight and easily portable, making them ideal for both your mp3 player and your home stereo system. We were satisfied with how the headphones block out outside noises and at the same time don’t bleed music...”

10Rate's editors gave the best quality Headphones award to the Audio-Technica ATH-M30, designated for features such as “professional sound quality with startling clarity.” The review also noted, “The highs, mids, and lows are all clear and rich without sounding fuzzy. You won't hear much of what's going on around you once you're absorbed in the music; outsiders won't be bothered by sounds bleeding out of the headphones, either.”

Next, the best value award from the Best Headphones Reviews were the Panasonic RP-HTX7 for which Burden noted, “The headphones are adjustable using piano wire sliders. For a $29.51 set of headphones, it's quite durable and easily portable if you want to connect it to your mp3 player while you're on the go. … We were impressed by the powerful, detailed sound on all levels. It's great at reducing muddiness and distortion.”

Panasonic also took home the best budget award for the Panasonic RP-HT21, being only one of two brands to appear in the Comparison Headphones Ratings twice. The other repeatedly recognized brand was Sennheiser, with its Sennheiser RS120 926 Review crediting the headphones with an 8.5 rating, stating, “If you like the fine quality of over-the-ears headphones but wish you had the freedom to move around the house while you listen to music without dragging a long cord, then the Sennheiser wireless headphone set may be the perfect choice.”
