With the goal of bringing Jeff Tunnell’s 30 years of game industry experience to emerging markets, Spotkin will be developing new franchises and games by partnering with small development studios to bring them to market. The production company is being launched by Jeff Tunnell, along with co-founder Timothy Aste, formerly an Art Director and Producer at GarageGames and PushButtonLabs.
Jeff Tunnell has founded five game companies, including Dynamix, JTP, GarageGames, PushButtonLabs, and now Spotkin. He created over 75 titles in the past 30 years, including Tribes, Trophy Bass, Marble Blast, The Incredible Machine, and Social City.
Spotkin will focus primarily on free to play games and smartphone platforms such as iOS and Android, but will also produce games on tablets, PC, and web-based platforms.
“We are excited to be creating playful game designs with engaging characters in off-beat worlds,” said founder Jeff Tunnell. “And we will partner with the right talent, developers and artists from around the world to bring those games to life.”
“We will leverage Spotkinʼs knowledge and experience with game design to assist our partners in developing the best possible games and launching across multiple platforms," said co-founder Timothy Aste. “We are crafting a production company for the modern video game industry, keeping a small, agile team that creates innovative games in emerging marketplaces."
Spotkin has secured the funding for its first round of titles and will be showing its first title on iOS and Android behind closed doors at GDC. Which is slated for launch later this Spring.
