Kansas City, Missouri (PRWEB) March 03, 2012
For 25 years, the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri (EDC) has served as a catalyst for economic development creativity. During the annual EDC Cornerstone Awards on May 15, the EDC will celebrate its milestone 25th anniversary and honor the 47 award finalists whose vision and creativity have contributed to the growth and stability of the Kansas City economy.
The EDC Cornerstone Awards shine a spotlight on some of the most innovative businesses and projects in the city. Additionally, this year’s event will feature a keynote address by James A. Taylor, Ph.D. Named by The Wall Street Journal as one of the "Top Five Business Futurists," Taylor focuses on the future, technology and marketplace strategy, trends in domestic and international business, and the integration of technology, culture and business profitability. During his keynote address, he will discuss how companies can harness creativity and develop out-of-the-box thinking to be the definitive leaders in their industry.
The EDC Cornerstone Awards luncheon will take place on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in the Grand Ballroom at the Kansas City Convention Center from noon to 1:30 p.m. Additionally, pre-function exhibits and networking will take place from 11 a.m. to noon.
The EDC Cornerstone Awards were established to recognize companies and projects that contribute to the growth of Kansas City’s economy. Cornerstone award winners provide economic stimulus to the city. Their projects spur new construction and redevelopment, foster capital investments and create jobs.
“As we enter into the EDC’s next 25 years, it’s thrilling to be working with these visionary leaders and creative companies right here in Kansas City,” says Robert Langenkamp, interim president and CEO. “The companies and projects we’re honoring at the EDC Cornerstone Awards exemplify why Kansas City has pushed through this recession and is seeing growth, stability and success. The entire team at the EDC is proud to play a part in that.”
More than 750 guests are expected to attend the event to honor the year’s top development contributions to Kansas City. Dignitaries including city officials, as well as key business leaders, will attend to show appreciation for the businesses’ and developers' commitments to economic growth in Kansas City.
