Too many people are assaulted, detained or arrested while travelling abroad. Merchant World Service launches a personal protection system to ensure that travellers have the tools they need to protect themselves.

A panic app - immediate help when you are desperate is now available. Merchant World Service Inc. (MWS), is pleased to announce the release of the myTravelSOS personal safety and security mobile application and service for download in the Google Play App Store (formerly the Android Marketplace).

myTravelSOS is a mobile application and membership-based service that acts as a personal safety and security system in your pocket. While travelling abroad globally, if a personal safety issue arises the member simply pulls out his or her smartphone and clicks the app’s panic button, activating a range of personal security features. Michael Kapoustin, a MWS co-founder said "had this service been available when I was originally detained, my fate would have been very different."

With leisure and business travel growing every year and global tensions at an all-time high, more and more people are assaulted, detained or arrested abroad. This trend has increased demand for safety services and devices. Until now advanced personal safety devices were the dominion of the wealthy and costs were prohibitive. myTravelSOS offers the same protections as the more expensive options, adds innovative legal benefits never before offered, and makes it available at a price every traveller can afford.

While travelling outside of their home country, the app allows members to access four forms of protection: safety and security, medical, legal and 24/7 live trusted personal assistance.

Safety and Security Protection – The gps-enabled app provides an emergency panic button, backed by call center live operators, that connects users to the help they need wherever they are on the planet. It also includes, a one-touch button to get police and emergency services sent to the app user’s location, a one-touch find my embassy feature, and a live streaming remotely stored audio and video feature that automatically activates when the panic button is hit.

Legal Protection – Provides legal assistance, coordinated by mytravelSOS, in case of an emergency that requires you to have a lawyer or interpreter present and a range of benefits to enable your family to assist you during any legal difficulty abroad.

Medical Protection – Provides emergency travel medical insurance secured through UNIQA, one of Austria’s leading insurance groups.

Trusted Personal Assistance and Support – To increase members’ sense of security, a trusted advisor is available through our call center-based personal assistants to help with any need while travelling.

"The combination of a gps-enabled mobile app, that can record incident audio and video as it happens, with our novel legal benefit makes this an ideal platform to protect global travellers. Michael would have tremendously benefited from it. We hope that nobody has to experience his fate again," said Tony Merchant Q.C., a MWS co-founder added.
