Free cups of coffee to be offered in high traffic areas near IKEA U.S. store locations; giveaway is part of national “Random Acts of Life Improvement” campaign.

Although IKEA can’t give that lost hour of sleep back, we hope this small gesture during a Monday morning commute will instantly help brighten and improve people’s day.

IKEA, The Life Improvement Store, will be offering free cups of coffee (while supplies last) at select high-traffic locations across the nation on Monday, March 12, 2012 (the first Monday after Daylight Savings begins) to help local commuters wake up after losing an hour of precious sleep from switching their clocks ahead. The fresh, UTZ Certified IKEA coffee giveaway is part of the national IKEA Random Acts of Life Improvement campaign, aimed to surprise and delight the public with tokens of appreciation to improve everyday moments in their lives. IKEA stores* plan to give away a total of more than 10,000 cups of free coffee across the U.S. throughout the morning.**

“At the core of IKEA, we're about providing a better everyday life for the many people, both at home and in their communities,” says Christine Whitehawk, Communications Manager IKEA US. “Although IKEA can’t give that lost hour of sleep back, we hope this small gesture during a Monday morning commute will instantly help brighten and improve people’s day.”

This is the second Random Act of Life Improvement being executed as part of the IKEA Life Improvement Project, a program designed to help inspire and empower people to improve their lives, as well as the lives of others in their community. The first Random Act of Life Improvement took place on October 1, 2011, when IKEA partnered with American Forest to giveaway 38,000 tree seedlings across the country. A third Random Act is planned for late spring/early summer of 2012.
