Irish registrar and hosting company Blacknight have a very special offer for developers: the chance to access a custom build of Microsoft's upcoming server release - Windows Server “8”.
Blacknight, which was voted the number one hosting company in Ireland for the third year in a row, have made it possible to use the Windows Server “8” Beta on their cloud hosting system. This means Blacknight will be offering a limited number of developers access to Server “8” to "test drive" it and play with its new features.
Built with the cloud in mind, Microsoft is calling Windows Server “8” "possibly the most significant release of Windows Server ever."
Long time Microsoft partners, Blacknight have Microsoft staff on their team. Access for developers testing Windows Server “8” on the Blacknight platform will be free.
Michele Neylon states, “As a company, we pride ourselves on pushing the envelope in terms of opportunities we can provide for our customers. Our technical team has put together a custom build of Microsoft's upcoming server release - Windows Server 8 and are very pleased to offer this opportunity to developers free of charge.”
According to Microsoft, “Windows Server "8" provides enormous flexibility for hosting web-based applications on-premises and in the cloud, giving enterprises and hosting providers an advanced server platform that can provide the flexibility, scalability and compatibility for creating and managing private clouds and running vital applications.” This means more creative freedom for developers and room to build out systems to fit individual needs. They also improve multiserver management with the Server Manager tool, Windows PowerShell 3.0 and IP Address Management (IPAM).
Neylon continues, “We have a good relationship with Microsoft that we value immensely and working closely with them allows us to offer groundbreaking services that are advantageous to customers. Our Microsoft certified staff has helped to create a really cool opportunity for developers, and we are looking forward to hosting more programs like this.”
