The Kemin veterinary division will now serve the companion animal supplement market

“Only after a very thorough and complete evaluation did Genesis decide to join Kemin Industries," said Bill. "We found our values of quality, integrity, service, dependability and trust to be true of Kemin and we are confident our customers will as well.”

Kemin Industries Inc. completed its acquisition of Genesis, a companion animal supplement company and maker of the brand RESOURCES™—health supplements marketed exclusively to veterinarians. As part of the acquisition, Kemin purchased all health supplements marketed under the RESOURCES brand, which includes supplements for immune and urinary support as well as joint and general wellness products.

In addition to acquiring RESOURCES brand products, Kemin is pleased to welcome Genesis founders Bill and Mary Bookout to the Kemin family. Bill and Mary are joining the veterinary division, Bill as vice president of global sales and Mary as companion animal business manager. As a founding member of the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC), Bill will remain on the NASC board of directors and Kemin will continue to be an NASC member and carry the NASC Quality Seal. Dr. Ihor Basko, a recognized leader in integrative and complementary medicine for animals and co-developer of the RESOURCES brand, will work for Kemin as a formulation and research and development consultant.

“Genesis has been carefully considering partnerships that would expand the use of its products and ultimately fulfill its vision of improving the lives of pets,” said Bill. “Only after a very thorough and complete evaluation did Genesis decide to join Kemin Industries. We found our values of quality, integrity, service, dependability and trust to be true of Kemin and we are confident our customers will as well.”

Founded by RW and Mary Nelson in 1961, Kemin, like Genesis, is a family-owned and operated company. For more than 50 years, Kemin has used science and research to enhance nutrition and health of humans and animals. Kemin manufactures and markets ingredients used in animal feed, pet food, food, health supplements and personal care products. In 2011, Kemin formed its animal nutrition and health – vet division to serve livestock veterinarians and live production managers, and with a goal to enter the companion animal supplement market shortly thereafter. The acquisition of Genesis will allow Kemin to achieve this goal.

“Our seven divisions share a unified vision of improving the quality of life by touching half the people of the world every day with our products and services,” said Andrew Yersin, Ph.D., president of the Kemin animal nutrition and health – vet division. “We believe pets are an important part of reaching this vision and our acquisition of Genesis and its RESOURCES brand will positively impact our ability to improve the lives of more people and their pets.”

The joined forces of Kemin and Genesis will ensure customers receive the same level of superior service they have come to expect. In addition, our customers can look forward to enhanced technology and an expanded selection of product solutions for companion animals.
