At Clements, we believe in giving peace of mind to individuals, organizations and humanitarian workers as they conduct their meaningful missions around the world.
Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania (PRWEB) March 08, 2012
In celebration of International Women’s Day today, Clements Worldwide, leading provider of international insurance solutions, announces its support of Africa UNiTE’s inaugural women’s advocacy climb of Mount Kilimanjaro. Spearheaded by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in 2008, the Africa UNiTE campaign aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls across the globe. As the main feature of the campaign, this week’s climb serves as an emblematic gesture of support in the fight to eradicate gender-based violence. As a strong supporter of both humanitarian causes and UN-based initiatives, Clements is pleased to contribute to this important charity and serve as the insurer of choice for the climbers.
The findings of a 2011 multi-country study conducted by the World Health Organization reinforce the urgency of the situation: nearly 71% of women throughout the world experience violence at some point in their lives. As United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon states: “We must unite. Violence against women cannot be tolerated, in any form, in any context, in any circumstance, by any political leader or by any government”
Dante Disparte, Clements’ director, comments on the company’s endorsement of this heralded UN-based initiative: “This historic ascent is an illuminating moment for Africa as governments, activists, and UN agencies mobilize to create powerful, positive social change. At Clements, we believe in giving peace of mind to individuals, organizations and humanitarian workers as they conduct their meaningful missions around the world. As such, it is with great pride that we support Africa UNiTE and provide climbers with critical insurance protection for this important initiative.”
Clements’ overall contributions to the Africa UNiTE campaign strengthens its long-standing and valued relationship with UN agencies, originating in 2005 with a strategic partnership with fellow supporters of the climb the United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU).
As a symbolic tribute, the 75 climbers have been steadily ascending Mount Kilimanjaro since March 5th in order to reach the summit today, in honor of International Women’s Day. To follow Clements’ lead with a donation to this cause, visit http://www.africaunitecampiagn.org.
